Tips, Guidance, Inspiration, and Science
Want to keep going?
Do it with a group! It's a fun exercise to do with friends or family and compare your different creations.
Try the exercise again using different words. (Try a random word generator go give you a few nouns.)
Help! I’m stuck!
Remember: this exercise is about sparking creativity, not creating a perfect poem.
Think about the images or feelings each word inspires and use that as a jumping-off point.
Don't worry about making it rhyme unless that's something you enjoy.
What’s the science?
Writing (and other arts) can regulate emotion. (James, C., Drake, J. E., & Winner, E., 2018).
