The habit of practicing creativity is what fuels progress and discovery.Â
We like to think of creativity as a muscle that requires consistent training and exercise to strengthen. The more we engage in creative endeavors, the more flexible, innovative, and resilient our thinking becomes.
Cultivating Creative Habits
Small, consistent actions lead to significant achievements. This week, we're planning to explore how to build and maintain creative habits. Here are some of our tips:
Accountability? Or self discipline?
If you're self motivated, consider setting aside daily or weekly time dedicated solely to your creative pursuits, or consider establishing a practice that marries creativity with routine
Some people prefer creating in groups. Consider getting an accountability buddy or joining a group (Messier's will be up and running soon, too!) to get other people on board with participating in a daily creative practice
Supportive resources to get creative habits going:
We've created a handful of creative, daily prompts to get you started, if you're unsure where to begin. Here's one of our favorites, but there are many more here.
Practicing creativity isn't bound to our personal lives. It can also be incorporated to our work-life. In many ways, this is even more helpful, as we spend the majority of time at work. A dear friend of ours, Anne Jacoby, recently released a book on how to infuse more creativity at work. You can find more info on Anne here as well as her book.

“Creativity itself doesn't care at all about results - the only thing it cares about is the process... The process is the thing." - Elizabeth Gilbert
