Hi Friends,
After a week of making space for creativity, our second week is all about fueling inspiration for our creativity. (No worries if you missed the first one – you can find it here on Substack).
Embracing the Artist's Date
In her transformative book, The Artist's Way, Julia Cameron invites us on a weekly solo expedition to gather inspiration from the world around us.
Artist dates recharge our creative batteries and open us up to new avenues of thought.
Ideas for Your Artist's Date:
Visit a new museum gallery or exhibit. Is there a place you've been wanting to go, but haven't been able to find the time?
Take a nature walk with the intent of observing every detail you see. Consider taking close-up photos of leaves, trees, and other elements. If you're feeling extra creative, consider making a nature mandala. This is one of our team's favorite exercises from this past Creativity Challenge.
Explore a different genre of music or literature you typically wouldn't. Is jazz typically your thing? Maybe exploring some old-school punk rock starts to inspire new ideas. Instead of reading memoir, consider sci-fi.
Creative Musings:
“Creativity occurs in the moment, and in the moment we are timeless.” – Julia Cameron
Book Nook:
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Set your Artist date for this week, and comment or post with any inspirational gems you discovered!
