Ant's Eye View π π π
Explore your surroundings with a fresh, ground-level perspective.
What will I need?
1. Pen and paper, or any creative medium of your choice.
2. An open mind, ready for a new perspective.
Steps:
Spend a few moments visualizing the world from an ant's point of view. Imagine how everything would look vast, towering, and monumental.
Look around you. What objects or areas of your environment would look different from this perspective?
Now, choose an object or a scene, and depict it as you imagine an ant would see it. You could sketch, paint, write, or even craft a 3D model.
If youβre up for it, share a snapshot in the Substack chat!
Tips, Guidance, Inspiration, and Science
Want to keep going?
Take it outside! An outdoor setting can provide a wealth of new perspectives.
Try this exercise in different rooms or areas. Each space will offer new "giant" landscapes to explore.
Do it with a group! This can be a fun and interactive activity for friends or family.
Help! Iβm stuck!
Remember, this is about exploration and perspective, not creating a perfect artwork.
Think about the textures, shapes, and colors an ant would see. Would a carpet look like a jungle? Would a table seem like a cliff?
Play with scale in your creation. Depict objects much larger than they are, and show details that might be magnified from an ant's point of view.
Whatβs the science?
Simple constraints lead to greater creativity and problem solving (Medeiros, K. E., Partlow, P. J., & Mumford, M. D., 2014).
